Known Application

Vitamin K2 is an endogenous, fat-soluble vitamin that plays a role in controlling bone growth and aging. It works by activating matrix Gla protein (MGP) and osteocalcin, which helps transport calcium ions from the blood to the bones, aiding in proper bone mineralization and promoting bone formation. In addition to increasing bone density, it can also improve vascular calcification.
From the perspective of teeth themselves, vitamin K2 can activate osteocalcin, a bone protein that triggers mechanisms for stimulating the growth of new dental tissue, resulting in stronger teeth. From the perspective of gums, calcification of the periodontal ligament is an early sign of many gum diseases. However, vitamin K2 can prevent the calcification of the periodontal ligament by activating matrix Gla protein. Therefore, vitamin K2 can simultaneously benefit both teeth and gums, providing comprehensive protection for dental health.
